Dog Strolls Into Texan Police Station To ‘Report Himself Missing’

Probably most of us think of our pets as the greatest, smartest, most beautiful animals that ever walked the Earth. For some, it’s kinda true but some are a tiny bit blinded by the pure and unconditional love every parent has for their child. I mean dog… (I mean child). However, this doggo is certainly a smart boy since he figured out that the best place to go after he lost his human is the police station. Having reported his issue like the good boy that he is, Chico lingered on an idea to apply for a job as a K-9 for a little while. Scroll down to read about his whole adventure. Meet Chico – a very smart boy who reported himself missing to the Texan Police

One morning last week, the officers at the Odessa Police department in Texas received an unexpected visitor – a polite doggo who gently put his paws onto the front desk to let them know about his issue. It appeared that there was a dog missing. Or a human, as he most likely thought to himself. Sergeant Rusty Martin was among the officers who received Chico and said the dog didn’t seem distressed about his lost status at all. It was as if he just went out for a stroll through the neighborhood and decided to pay the kind officers a visit to brighten up their day.

After hanging out there for a while, he ran out as quickly as he had walked in

The officers made sure to make his day at least a little bit better in return. They said he received “lots of love and attention”. “We were all excited to have him in the building,” Martin added. “We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved him.” When playtime was over, it was time to make sure Chico would return to his rightful owners. But that wasn’t as easy as it may sound since the ID tag had fallen off from his collar. Therefore, animal control was dispatched to check for a microchip.

His owner reported he got back and is safe and sound at home after his little venture

However, Chico felt like his time at the PD was done and quickly snuck out before animal control arrived. Luckily, he headed straight back to his family who reported him back the next day.”He ran out just as quick as he came in,” Sergeant Martin said. “The owner responded the next day [to say that] it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station.”
