Akhil Kumar creates faceted basket by folding Samsung Eco-Package cardboard box

Twist by Akhil Kumar for the Samsung Out of the Box Competition

In this video, Dezeen x Samsung Out of the Box Competition finalist Akhil Kumar discusses his Twist basket, which is made of folded cardboard from the box of Samsung's The Sero television.

The design was constructed from just two panels of cardboard, which are scored and folded to create the faceted design.

It is intended to be as simple as possible to construct in order to encourage people to reuse the cardboard packaging their television is shipped in rather than throwing it away.

The design is one of five finalists in the Dezeen x Samsung Out of the Box Competition to create innovative household objects by repurposing cardboard packaging.

The contest draws on Samsung's Eco-Package concept, which aims to reduce waste by providing customers with a way to repurpose their television packaging into new household items.

The finalists were selected from 15 shortlisted designs, which included a planter, a sneaker rack and even an amplifier for mobile phones.
