We can’t believe that anyone wouldn’t want to keep such a beautiful and unique feline. Sansa is a cat from New York who had been neglected and abandoned by her previous owners when she was just a year old. Fortunately, she’s found her forever home after being adopted by her new owner Karen who has helped turn her into an Instagram star.
Now, Sansa is 6 years old and she stands out from the crowd. She has heterochromia which means she has different-colored eyes. What’s more, she has polydactyly—she was born with more toes than usual: Sansa has 6 digits on her front paws and 4 and 5 digits on her hind ones.

She was found on the streets of New York by animal rescue staff and quickly taken in by Karen and her husband Jack at a cat adoption event in Manhattan.
According to 33-year-old Karen, there were lots of gorgeous and friendly cats at the event. However, she was drawn to Sansa’s seemingly-empty cage (the cat was hiding under her bed) because it had a sign saying the cat suffered from anxiety after being abandoned in the streets of NYC. Karen felt an immediate bond with Sansa because she herself suffered from anxiety.
Sansa took a while to warm up to her new owners and her new home. She would hide behind the TV console whenever the door opened. She also only used to sneak out from her hiding place to eat.

The cat also suffers from feline hyperesthesia, a type of seizure disorder that can cause episodes of agitation and even self-harm. Karen gives Sansa pet CBD oil which has helped curb her episodes.
Now, Sansa rules her home with an iron paw. She wakes up at 6 a.m. every morning and knocks down things from the nightstand if her servants-- errr owners don’t immediately rush to feed her.
Karen and Jack hope to raise awareness about adopting special needs and genetically different cats like Sansa. The cat’s Instagram page that documents her daily life is their way of doing just that.
