Dezeen Showroom: London-based designer Arnold Chan has created a cordless light for Voltra that flickers and glows like a candle.

The Reeded lamp features reed-like diffusers clustered in a glass cylinder, which are lit from within to create a warm glow. The light can also be set to flicker like a candle.

Chan designed the lamps for Voltra, a lighting design company that specialises in cordless lamps.

"The design reflects Voltra products – elegant and intimate vessels of light that are versatile and simple to use," said the lighting designer.

The cordless design has a removable battery

A removable battery hidden in the sturdy metal base can be charged up separately, allowing the lamps to be placed anywhere with no cords to clutter a minimal interior.

"Voltra lighting provides the intimacy of candlelight through superior craftsmanship and a focus on the technical needs of the hospitality industry," said Voltra.

"Our chargers are design pieces in themselves and allow you to charge and control multiple lamps at once through our patented communication system."

The Reeded lamp is available with different metal finishes for the base: Antique Bronze, Natural Brass, Polished Chrome, or Satin Nickel.
